Vendor of the Month

CONGRATULATIONS to Speechy Musings.

She is our very first Vendor of the Month.  We love our vendors and are so happy to be able to help support them in their product-making endeavors.  It takes a lot of time, effort, creativity and sometimes money to create these amazing products for everyone to enjoy!  This is one of the reasons why vendors greatly enjoy feedback.  It makes a vendors day to hear what you think of their products!

Take some time to get to know this awesome SLP blogger!

Where do you blog?

I blog over at!

Why did you get into blogging?

I got into blogging as a graduate student. I wanted a way to share both my journey through graduate school and the ideas I came up with for therapy! I moved almost 800 miles away for school and needed something other than school to fill my time!

What setting do you currently work in?

I currently work at an amazing private practice.

What is your favorite thing about being an SLP?

My favorite thing about being an SLP is watching new communicators find their voices! I LOVE teaching kids to say “no”!

What is the product that you consider your “MOST WANTED”?

I think my most wanted product is my Common Core Binder for SLPs where I take SLPs through the Common Core process and help them relate their goals to Common Core Standards.

What is the favorite product you have made (if different than your most wanted)?

My favorite product that I’ve made (right now, it changes often!) are my Interactive Book Attachments. I work with a younger crowd these days and this product has really helped some of my kiddos interact with, learn from, engage with, and describe pages in books!

What words of advice would you give an SLP newbie?

I am one so this is tough!! I’m currently completing my CF year but I’d say the biggest thing us newbies can do it stay organized and don’t try to reinvent the wheel.

What is your “go-to” treatment technique?

I often feel like Oprah (think “you get a car, you get a car!”) when I utilize AAC (think “you get an iPad, you get a communication binder!”) but I think with the population I work with, that it’s so helpful and important to get these kiddos a full language system way to express themselves ASAP.

If you weren’t an SLP what would you be?

I don’t think there is a career I’d rather have so I guess I’d say a stay at home puppy mommy to my two awesome puppies.

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would it be?

South Africa or New Zealand!!

Wow!  So excited to see how accomplished this SLP is and to think she is still a “newbie”.  We would have never guessed!  Keep up the great work Speechy Musings.  If you want to see other products that she has created head on over to her vendor store here.  One of my personal faves from her store is Mega Fluency Packet for Speech Therapy.

I wonder who next months Vendor of the Month will be.  To become a VOM you must have

  • at least 5 products uploaded to your Speechtivities vendor store
  • be an active blogger and/or contributor to the SLP field and
  • be a maker of creative, functional and useful Speech Therapy products.

Is that  YOU!!
