Pull up the PPT in reading view and screen share it with your client.
If your system allows, pull up your own so that you each can mark the page without the other seeing.
Tell your client to choose one of the flowers from the grid you do the same. Be sure you both write them down.
Take turns asking YES/NO questions to help you eliminate until you have it narrowed down to one. Examples of questions:
Is it a purple color?
Does it have pointy petals?
Is it one large flower?
Based on the answers, each of you will continue to eliminate (deduce) until you arrive at the best guess. The goal is to guess it first.
If you can do so on your system you can cross out the ones you are eliminating right on the screen. Each of you should ideally do this separately.
Measure success by counting how many questions it takes to make a correct guess. Start with the deductive reasoning fun free download named “10 men” and progress to the more difficult ones as the student improves. The “F” number on the title page will always indicate how many pictures are in that lesson.
Goals which this exercise meets:
The student will deduce which flower is identified in X steps or less with 90% accuracy over 2 sessions, where the field is 49.
The student will formulate questions whose answers will successfully discriminate between figures with 90% accuracy over 2 sessions where the field is 49
The student will maintain focused attention for the duration of the deduction problem, approx. X minutes (then name a time length you think is appropriate)
The student will use highly descriptive words in questions with 90% accuracy over two sessions.
