Use the following simple visual/tactile mats to help students begin forming complete 3-word sentences using “is” and “-ing” verbs.
Suggestions for use:
Print a copy with or without text for each student.
Write in specific words or use picture cues with the blank mat for more targeted practice.
During play activities or while describing pictures, have students touch each circle while forming a sentence.
Model as necessary until students can independently use mat.
Fade out mat use as students become more successful.
